Terms 685 / 685

RDesign

Raster image

An image represented by a pixel grid, such as a photograph. Pixel dimensions describe spatial detail; PPI relates those dimensions to print size. Enlargement usually involves interpolation and may reveal limited detail.

RProgramming

React

A library for building interfaces from components. Complete applications also need routing, data-fetching and deployment decisions; React alone does not decide everything.

RWebsites

Readable URL

A URL clearly describing a resource with a predictable structure. It should be stable; renaming needs proper redirects rather than cosmetic shortening alone.

REDAXO

A PHP content management system with extensions. Choose add-ons and content modelling to fit the website and available support.

RServers

Redis

A data store using memory and structures including lists, sets and hashes. It can support caching and queues. Durability depends on configuration; Redis need not hold only temporary data.

RProgramming

Refactoring

Changing internal code structure without intended changes to observable behaviour. Tests help preserve contracts while improving readability and maintainability.

RMarketing

Referral traffic

Traffic attributed to visits from another website under analytics rules. Missing referrer information and campaign configuration can affect classification.

RMarketing

Remarketing

Advertising to people who previously had a defined interaction. It requires appropriate data, consent and platform compliance rather than unrestricted tracking.

RServers

Replication

Copying data changes between instances through a defined mechanism. Replicas can reproduce accidental deletions and therefore do not replace independent backups.

RProgramming

Repository

A location holding a project and version history, such as Git. Repository access and copies need protection, especially against publishing secrets.

RProgramming

REST

An architectural style with constraints including statelessness and a uniform interface. Using HTTP and JSON alone does not make an API RESTful.

RDomains

Reverse DNS

Resolving an IP address to a name using PTR records. Address-space operators usually control it; matching reverse DNS alone does not authenticate email senders.

Definition and sources
RServers

Reverse proxy

A server accepting client requests and forwarding them to backend services. It may handle TLS or caching and must protect trust headers and private content.

RSEO

Rich results

Enhanced search-result presentations with additional information. Valid structured data can establish eligibility, but display depends on search systems.

robots.txt

A file defining fetch rules for crawlers that follow them. It is not protection for private data. A blocked address can still appear in results; blocking does not replace authentication or noindex.

Definition and sources
RServers

rsync

A local and remote file-synchronisation tool reducing unchanged transfers. Deletion options need care; synchronisation is not automatically a versioned backup.

RTO and RPO

RTO targets restoration time; RPO targets the tolerable data-loss point in time. These are design objectives requiring recovery-test validation.
